Meeting Summary

Date: Feb. 16, 2009

1. Work group activities and accomplishments since the last meeting:

Seven groups called the Volunteer Reception Center during the week. An engineering firm has adopted Ike repair as a long term project.

Donations management has made progress with Lowes and is contacting various stores.

Mental health sub group drafted an advocacy piece for the CDBG Disaster Funds decision with intent that individual organizations would send comments to H-GAC.

Repair & Rebuild has a draft schedule for monthly volunteer days. It held a workshop for project managers including healthy and green rebuild techniques.

2. Highlights of meeting discussion:

Case management pilot contract was awarded. NCI has Harris County, LSSDR has 16 surrounding counties, and Deep East Texas COG has eastern counties. State of Texas has not released a revised timeline yet.

Dale and Jeannie Peercy are on the agenda for the Feb 24 R&R work group meeting and the next Steering Committee meeting.

3. Support and/or action needed from another work group, Steering Committee and/or Long Term Recovery Committee:

Linda W. will draft a letter of introduction from the LTRC.

Committee approved letter to be sent to Houston-Galveston Area Council stating Committee’s position on distribution of Community Development Block Grand Disaster Funds.
