Meeting Summary
Date: June 22, 2009

1. Workgroup reports

• Case Management – Dave reported that NCI has received the FEMA list and that NCI is outreaching via calls and letters to those that might still require case management. As of June 22, NCI had not seen an increase at their intake phone number for assistance. Carol reported that Lutheran Social Services has received their FEMA list and will be distributing it to their sub recipients in the coming days.

Najah updated the group about the Case Management Resource Fair that will occur on June 24 from 2:30-4:30 at United Way. Approximately 50 booths and over 200 case managers are expected to attend. Unmet needs trainings will be offered at 2:45 and 3:45.

• Repair & Rebuild - Stefanie reported that everyone should have received the GHLTRC Guide to Operations. This not only includes Repair and Rebuild Policies but the policies related to all aspects of the GHLTRC. The Handbook of Forms contains all forms associated with the GHLTRC. R&R is actively recruiting other organizations and CDCs to join the GHLTRC so that we can increase our Repair and Rebuild Capacity. Independence Heights Redevelopment Council was recently approved to start receiving funding. Stephen Lobo is currently reviewing cases and assisting in the case referral process.


• Spiritual & Mental Health Care – Sue Levin was not in attendance


• Volunteer Management – Kathleen reported that the VRD is exploring new sources for skilled volunteers and that Volunteer Houston’s communications/PR person is actively promoting on Twitter and Facebook. Kathleen also reports that they are going to pursue Home Depot for volunteers. They hope to recruit both skilled employees of Home Depot as well as customers.

• Donations Management - Linda Walker was not in attendance

2. Resource Fair
• June 23, 2:30 – 4:30 pm at the United Way. The fair is designed to contact case managers to client resources and the agencies who provide them.

3. Meeting dates
• GHLTRC At Large – July 9, 2:30 pm at the United Way
• GHLTRC Steering Committee Meeting - July 13, 10 am at the United Way
