Chair—Jennifer
shared her goals for the new year:
1) Grow
in active members
2) Run
regular meetings efficiently
3) Promote
local and state relationships with other VOADs
Vice Chair—no
report
Secretary—discussed
duties and roles in relationship to membership chair, to maintain official
voting roster and co-ordinate communications with Carolyn Shell.
Treasurer—Carolyn
reported for Chris
We discussed
the setting up of a checking account. Each elected officer will be a signatory
on the account. Checks less than $250.00 will require only one signature.
Checks over $250.00 will require 2 signatures. Chris will report back as to the
pros and cons of our various options for incorporation (501 (c) 3, State of Texas non-profit status,
etc.) Chris will also prepare a preliminary budget for next year.
Communications Committee—Carolyn
will send out a meeting reminder for January, including reminders about dues
and to update membership applications.
Membership Committee—we
discussed best way to maintain and manage membership directory. It was decided
that data will remain with standing committee chair. This position will also
involve outreach to new members and potential networks. Brinson will coordinate
with Carolyn about keeping the website updated, creating letterhead, expanding
email capacities, streamlining the information flow and encouraging the use of
the website.
Education Committee—Robert
Harris agreed to chair this committee. We discussed the possibility of
fundraising events centered on training. Robert will create and administer a
needs assessment survey for the membership. We also discussed doing a regular
“VOAD 101” orientation for new members.
